Frequently asked questions
Find out more about the KDSC programme below, if you have any further queries and would like to speak to a member of the KDSC team, please get in touch.
Who is the KDSC Accelerator for?
The KDSC Accelerator is for Kuwaiti tech-enabled startups that are beyond idea stage and already showing real market traction. It is aimed at companies in the seed to Series A stage that want to scale within Kuwait, across the GCC, and potentially internationally.
Do I need to be a Kuwaiti national to apply?
Yes. The programme is open to Kuwaiti nationals, and applicant businesses must be based and registered in Kuwait. Applicants must also be aged 18-35 as of the programme start date.
Does my company need to be registered in Kuwait?
Yes. To be eligible, the business must be based and registered in Kuwait and able to participate fully in the in-person programme.
What stage does my startup need to be at?
Your startup should be beyond the idea stage. That means your product or service should already be live in the market, or at least being piloted, and you should be able to show some traction. The programme is designed for companies at Seed to Series A stage.
What counts as traction?
Traction can take different forms. This may include paying customers, recurring revenue, successful pilots or proof-of-concepts, active users with strong engagement, signed contracts, LOIs with real conversion potential, or a clearly validated sales pipeline. At least one of these is expected.
Is the programme sector-specific?
No. The programme is industry agnostic, as long as your solution is tech-enabled.
Can previous KDSC Pre-Accelerator participants apply?
Yes. Previous KDSC Pre-Accelerator participants are encouraged to apply if they meet the selection criteria. They will be assessed in the same way as everyone else.
Is the programme in person or online?
The programme is intended to be delivered primarily in person. Phase I is an in-person bootcamp in Kuwait, Phase II includes guided development support and a regional networking trip, while Phase III concludes with an in-person investment bootcamp and Demo Day in Kuwait. However, given the regional situation, the programme delivery schedule may be subject to change. Applicants must be able to attend the full duration of the programme.
How much time will I need to commit?
You should expect to commit fully across all three phases. The first phase runs in the evenings during the bootcamp period, and the programme also includes ongoing check-ins, masterclasses, mentoring, office hours, a regional networking trip and final Demo Day preparation. Founders should only apply if they can participate actively throughout.
Do I need to speak English?
Yes. The programme will be delivered in English, so applicants should be comfortable in written and spoken English.
What will I actually get from the programme?
Participants will receive a founder-focused curriculum, one-to-one mentoring, practical support across growth, finance, legal and fundraising, access to peers and investors, and a regional networking trip. The programme is built to help startups strengthen traction, grow their businesses, and become more investment-ready.
Will the programme help me raise investment?
It can help you become more ready to raise, but it is not a guarantee of funding. The programme includes investment preparation, investor narrative development, due diligence readiness, and a Demo Day where startups pitch to VCs, angels, corporates, and government stakeholders.
Is there any cost to participate?
It is free of charge to participate in the programme. The regional networking trip will include an expenses stipend to cover participants’ travel and accommodation costs.
Can I apply as a solo founder?
Solo founders are not excluded. However, applicants will be assessed on team strength, execution capability, and balance of skills across product, technology, sales, and operations, so solo founders may need to show especially strong execution capacity or a clear plan to address gaps.
How are applications assessed?
Applications are assessed across business fundamentals and founder capability. This includes traction, product-market fit, customer validation, market opportunity, scalability, business model, growth readiness, team strength, coachability, and programme fit. See the full selection criteria here.
What makes a strong application?
A strong application will usually show clear evidence of customer demand, credible traction, a real growth opportunity, a strong team, and a clear explanation of why this programme will help accelerate the business. Founders should be specific, evidence-based, and realistic rather than vague or overly polished.
What are the key application dates?
Applications are open from April 14th to May 17th, 2026. Shortlisting notifications will be made by early June. Applicant interviews will take place from June 14th to June 25th, with offers issued by early July. The programme will then be delivered from September to December 2026.
When does the programme start?
Phase I begins in September 2026, with the in-person bootcamp scheduled from September 13th to September 27th (precise dates subject to confirmation). The programme then continues through November and December, ending with Demo Day in December 2026.
